There is nothing to procure

Hatchable is free, so there is no contract, no purchase order and no licence for anyone to review. A teacher can start on Monday. This page answers the questions a board usually asks anyway.

Modules 1 to 8 are readable without an account, including by your reviewers.

The questions a board asks

What does it cost, and what do we sign?

Nothing, and nothing. There is no fee, no licence and no per-student charge, so there is no purchase order to raise and no agreement to review. A teacher signs up the same way anyone else does.

What do you store about a student?

Their name, their email address, and their age if they gave it, which is optional. Then their course work. We ask for no home address, no phone number and no date of birth, and there is nowhere in the product to enter them.

Do you track or advertise?

No. There is no analytics script, no advertising pixel and no session recording anywhere on the site. We sell and share nothing with anyone.

Who can see a student's work?

The student, and their teacher if they joined through one. A teacher can never see another teacher's students. Anything public is reachable only by an unguessable link the student chose to send, is not listed anywhere, and is marked so search engines skip it. Public pages show first names only.

Do you take payments from students or families?

No. There is no payment processor in the product. If a student runs a shop for their project it takes reservations only, and the customer pays the student in person. No card details exist anywhere because there is nowhere to enter them.

Is it accessible?

We build towards WCAG 2.1 AA and have not been independently audited. The accessibility page lists what we have done and what we have not, including the fact that the course videos do not yet have captions.

What we do not have

Worth knowing before you take this to anyone. We would rather you find these here than in week three.

There is no school account
Each teacher has their own account and their own class list. A principal or department head cannot see across teachers, because we have not built that. If it would change whether you could use Hatchable, tell us and it moves up the list.
No single sign-on or rostering
There is no Google Classroom or Clever integration. Teachers invite a class with a link or a list of email addresses, which takes a couple of minutes but is manual.
Not mapped to a provincial curriculum
We have not published a mapping between our modules and any provincial course document. If you have to report against specific expectations, that reading is currently yours to do.
Hosting is not pinned to Canada
The database and uploaded files are held in Supabase's Canadian region. The site itself runs on Vercel, which we have not restricted to a single country, so a request may be handled elsewhere. If Canadian residency for the whole stack is a requirement for your board, it is not something we can claim today.
Module 9 has no teacher guide
The other eight do. Module 9 covers personal finance and sits outside the main project work.

How a school actually starts

  1. 1One teacher creates a free account and reads a module or two.
  2. 2They invite one class with a link, and run it for a term.
  3. 3If it works, other teachers do the same. There is no step where anybody signs anything.

Because it is free and needs no integration, a school can try Hatchable with one class without committing to anything, and stop without having to unwind a contract.

Something your board needs that is not here?

Tell us what is missing. We would rather hear the requirement than guess at it, and the list above is what we would work on next.
