Final Assignment Example — Jenny
Jenny is 16 years old, loves art, and lives in a small town in Canada.
My Problem Statement
I receive more custom art and t-shirt orders than I can handle, and my lack of an order management system leads to missed deadlines, unhappy customers, and significant personal stress.
My Top 3 Solution Ideas
Idea 1: Set a fixed weekly order limit and communicate it clearly I will set a strict limit of 5 custom orders per week and update my Instagram bio and stories to communicate this limit clearly to customers. This is a simple process change — no new product or service, just a boundary.
Idea 2: Cancel custom orders and focus only on pre-designed art prints Instead of doing custom orders at all, I would focus on designing a collection of art prints that I can produce in batches and sell repeatedly without having to customize each one. Customers choose from my existing designs. This is a product-focused business model.
Idea 3: Enlist family help for order management and production I would ask family members (particularly a sibling or parent) to help me manage incoming orders, track deadlines, and communicate with customers — so I can focus on the art itself. This is an operational solution using existing resources.
My Three Hypotheses
Hypothesis 1: If I set a public limit of 5 custom orders per week on my Instagram profile and stories, and close orders once the limit is reached, then 80% of customers who see the limit will still place an order when slots are available, and I will deliver all orders on time for at least 8 consecutive weeks.
Hypothesis 2: If I switch from custom orders to a pre-designed art print model — offering 10 designs that customers can choose from — then my weekly revenue will remain at least 75% of my previous monthly average while my production stress decreases significantly (as measured by a personal weekly wellbeing check-in).
Hypothesis 3: If I enlist one family member to manage my order tracking spreadsheet and customer communications (responding to DMs and updating customers on status), then I will reduce the time I spend on non-creative tasks by at least 50%, and customer complaints about delays will decrease by at least 60% within 4 weeks.
