Hypothesis Examples from Our Characters
Let's look at how Aisha, Jacob, and Jenny turned their top ideas into strong If-Then hypotheses.
Aisha's Hypotheses (Somali language program)
Hypothesis 1: "If I offer a free weekly 2-hour Somali language class for children ages 6–12 at a community centre in Herongate, then at least 10 families will enroll in the first month."
Hypothesis 2: "If I create a hybrid Somali language program (in-person + online resources for home practice), then children will show measurable improvement in Somali vocabulary after 8 weeks compared to an in-person-only class."
Hypothesis 3: "If I run a 4-week summer language camp for Somali-Canadian children, then parents will rate their child's cultural connection as improved by at least 70% in a post-camp survey."
Jacob's Hypotheses (after-school academic support)
Hypothesis 1: "If I organize a free after-school study space with volunteer tutors at the local library on Tuesdays and Thursdays, then at least 15 students from nearby schools will attend within the first 3 weeks."
Hypothesis 2: "If I recruit 5 high-school volunteers to run structured weekly tutoring sessions for grade 6–8 students in math and science, then participants will improve their test scores by an average of 10% after 6 sessions."
Hypothesis 3: "If I create an online homework help platform where students can post questions and get answers within 24 hours from volunteer tutors, then at least 50 students in Scarborough will use it in the first 2 months."
Jenny's Hypotheses (custom order management)
Hypothesis 1: "If I limit my weekly custom order intake to 5 orders and clearly communicate this on my Instagram profile, then 80% of my customers will still place orders without complaint."
Hypothesis 2: "If I create a simple order tracking spreadsheet and send weekly status updates to customers, then the number of 'Where's my order?' messages will decrease by at least 50%."
Hypothesis 3: "If I use a free online order form to collect all custom order details upfront, then I will make fewer errors and complete orders 25% faster."
Notice how each hypothesis is specific, testable, and tied to a real prediction about what will happen. In Module 4, you'll learn how to actually test these hypotheses with real customers!
