My SMART Analysis
Specific: The goal is specific because it focuses on collecting and recycling plastic bottles. We know exactly what they want to do — it's not vague like "help the environment in some way."
Measurable: It is measurable because the organization can track the number of plastic bottles collected. They can count how many bottles are collected each week or month to see their progress.
Achievable: It's achievable, as long as they have the resources — like recycling facilities or collection bins. If they can set up drop-off points and get community members involved, this goal is definitely within reach.
Relevant: This goal aligns perfectly with the club's mission to make the environment cleaner and healthier. Reducing plastic waste directly supports what they care about and what the community needs.
Time-bound: This is where the goal falls short. The goal lacks a specific deadline. It would be much stronger if they set a time frame for achieving it — for example, "collect 500 plastic bottles within one month." Without a timeline, there's no sense of urgency.
My Conclusion
The Green Kids Recycling Club has a goal that is mostly SMART — it's specific, measurable, achievable, and relevant. However, it is not fully SMART because it is missing a time-bound element. I would recommend they update their goal to something like: "Collect and recycle 500 plastic bottles in our community by the end of March." That would make it a truly SMART goal!
