Final Assignment: Lean Canvas model

Final Assignment: Lean Canvas Model

Look how far you've come! You've identified a problem, validated it, brainstormed solutions, tested hypotheses, and conducted market research. Now it's time to bring it all together and choose one project to carry forward through the rest of the course.

What to Do

Answer the following three questions about each of your three project ideas to help you make your decision:

  1. Is the project feasible? Will it really address the needs you've identified and deliver genuine value to your target audience?
  2. Do you feel passionate about this project? Is it something you're genuinely excited to keep working on?
  3. What is the Unique Value Proposition of the project? Why would people choose your project over other options that already exist?

Once you've answered these questions for all three ideas, choose one to carry forward. Remember: entrepreneurship is a dynamic process. You can always make changes and adjustments as you learn more — this is not a permanent, unchangeable decision.

The Lean Canvas Map

After choosing your project, complete the following Lean Canvas elements:

Question 1: What project did you choose?

Name the idea you selected and briefly explain why you chose it over the other two options.

Question 2: What is the Unique Value Proposition Map of your project?

Complete the UVP Canvas Map by answering all six questions below:

Customer Profile:

a) Customer Jobs — What tasks or problems does your target audience want to solve?

b) Customer Pains — What negative feelings, risks, or obstacles do they experience when trying to accomplish those tasks?

c) Customer Gains — What positive outcomes or benefits do they hope to achieve when they succeed?

Value Map:

x) Value Proposition — What products and services do you offer to make your audience happy and solve their problems?

y) Pain Relievers — How does your product or service specifically address and resolve your target audience's pains?

z) Gain Creators — What special features or benefits does your product or service provide to create positive outcomes for your audience?

Question 3: Summarize your unfair advantage

In a single sentence, describe the unfair advantage of your project compared to competitors. What do you offer that they can't easily copy or replicate?

Tips for Success

  • Be specific — vague answers won't help you when you move into Module 5
  • Connect your answers back to your research — what did your interviews, surveys, and market research actually tell you?
  • Don't be afraid to pivot — if none of your three ideas feels right, you can start fresh using everything you've learned
  • The goal is to have a clear, committed project ready for Module 5
